How to Book Your First Outdoor Talk Session
Summary for Clients (top of the page):
Let’s make this easy—and real.
Outdoor Talk isn’t your typical therapy practice, and we’re proud of that. We meet outside, we move, and we do therapy in ways that don’t fit into the standard mental health mold. That means we’re currently using a workaround to schedule your first meeting while we build a system that fits our model better. It’s not perfect, but it works—and we ask that you follow the steps below to get started.
Expect some things to feel different: your session might happen on a trail, at a local park, or near a river. Our rates vary depending on the activity, and your therapist will review everything with you before you’re charged. We’ll make sure you feel informed, comfortable, and in control every step of the way.
Thanks for rolling with us as we build something better. We talk better outdoors—and we’re glad you’re here.
How to Set Up a Meeting: Step-by-Step
Step 2: Text Us
You’ll get a message from someone on our team (usually Jess or Darin) to help match you with the right clinician. It may look like this:
“We’d love to get dinner with you, Chad.”
Oops—not that one. But it’ll feel just as friendly. 😊
We’ll ask you a few more questions and confirm a time to meet.
Step 3: Choose Your Session Type
Your therapist will offer options based on your needs and comfort level:
Hiking, walking, or sitting outdoors
Locations near Salt Lake, Davis County, or beyond
Some activities (like fly fishing, glassing, or sauna/cold plunge) have adjusted rates
We’ll always confirm the location, activity, and rate ahead of time.
Step 4: Review and Sign Paperwork
You’ll get a secure link to review intake forms and consents before your session. These may feel a little standard—and we’re working on updating them to match our approach. Your therapist will walk through anything that needs clarity.
Step 5: Show Up (Literally & Fully)
We’ll meet at the agreed-upon location. We’ll take care of the rest.
